Our purpose is to connect with people by meeting the spiritual and physical needs of people in the community in which we serve as a part of God's kingdom on earth.
Our Vision
We envision our neighborhood as a community wholly transformed by God and characterized by stability, justice, leadership and economic opportunity.
Our Mission
We work:
o To introduce people to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and build them up in their faith
o To establish a new generation of local Christian leaders in the family and community
o To use the strengths of the community to meet the needs of the people
o To provide hope and a way out of dependencies and addictions
o To develop partnerships (in the areas of education, evangelism, spiritual development and discipleship, job training, and interpersonal development)
o To demonstrate & establish a community of believers in the neighborhood we serve through relocation and home-ownership
o To encourage stability
Our Status
Urban Connections is a division of Morning Glory Ministries, Inc. We are a faith-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Urban Connections is a member of the Christian Community Development Association.
Our Structure
Urban Connections is a part of Morning Glory Ministries, Inc., which has a sister ministry in Akron, OH. As such, MGM Board of Trustees provides oversight, vision, and financial accountability for both ministries. Urban Connections is directed locally by the Leadership Team; all members of the Leadership Team are directly involved with the various ministry efforts. The Urban Connections’ Leadership Team includes (among others) the Executive Director, the Resource Administrator, the Program Director, the construction coordinator, and the treasurer. Membership of the Leadership Team for Urban Connections is drawn both from the churches, who are major supporters of the ministry, and residents of the community. For more information about the members and functions of these groups, see the People section.
